Baker was the AMA Horizon Award winner in 2008 with five amateur national dirt track titles under his belt. He won the Pro Singles Championship in 2009; and in 2011 he was rookie of the year. His latest accolade as the Grand National Champion was accomplished in only three years in the Expert class. there were key players in both starts – Baker, Smith, Mees, and Briar Bauman – with the standouts being Baker and Smith. With a title on the line, Baker and Smith were both going all in. What you saw for most of the race was lead changes in almost every turn. Smith would lead in, Baker would out and then there would be the occasion where one or the other would have an advantage for the entire lap.
