CN III VOICES P18 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR "Seems that those weighing between 128 and 150 pounds ought to have the weight penalty." So Long, Laguna How can it be possible that Laguna Seca has not listened to everyone year after year about getting the other classes to come and draw more crowds. I remember the first two to three years and there were so many people. Even with only MotoGP. Would it have made a difference? Perhaps. I think the Moto2 and Moto3 races are as exciting as the MotoGP race. I would have loved to see the Moto3 bikes climb the hill after turn six. What a chain of bikes it would have been. Or to see them go through the corkscrew side-byside rattling fairings. We have had it good, but management did not seem to react to try to do something to draw more people. Did they think no one would go to CoTA? I went to the MotoGP race at CoTA and it is a massive track compared to Laguna. But it has no soul. It is beautiful, but it just cannot hold a candle to the area around Laguna. And, by comparison, Laguna was a great deal. I was overcharged for everything except for the one bottle of water CoTA allows you to bring into the track. Hell, did they ever consider asking the state for money like Texas and Indiana did? There are more motorcycles registered in California than either of these states. Take $10 from every in- flated motorcycle registration in California and give it to Laguna. At $10 per registration, that is only 200,000 bikes to draw the money from. I would be glad to pay this to see MotoGP stay. Watch out Laguna, your World Superbike race is the last motorcycle event. Get the other classes. Expand the hard garages. Draw money from all the local businesses who have surely taken a lot of money from the patrons who have gone to Laguna. It used to draw 90,000 people. But not the way it was or, should I say, wasn't advertised? No one was there Saturday when race one happened. Did they tell anyone about the races being split into two days? And the thing that was absent was the paddock walk, except for the VIP tickets. I saw a lot of angry people who had lined up just to find out after standing there that 'Oh! It is only for VIP,' but did it say anything on the program or schedule? I will truly miss this race. Many others have said the same. It was my yearly vacation: Camping, riding, eating in Monterey, watching the bikes, getting autographs, seeing these amazing machines. Seeing real aliens. Now you have to go to Texas or Indiana to see them. Joe Edone Paso Robles, CA No ISDE Happiness It's disappointing that Shan Moore did not include the results of all the riders on the U.S. ISDE team. All the riders busted their asses in Sardinia and they should have all been listed with how they finished. Instead you provide a link to the pathetic ISDE website so we can try to figure out how the rest of the American riders placed. And we get an article on a "Royal Enfield" with a whopping 29 horsepower. They deserve better. Larry Bever Via the Internet You may want to see page 74... Editor MotoGP Weights Is Obama regulating MotoGP as well? A quick check of MotoGP riders has the following: Valentino Rossi - 148 pounds - MotoGP Champion; Nicky Hayden - 150 pounds - MotoGP Champion; Jorge Lorenzo - 143 pounds - MotoGP Champion; Casey Stoner - 128 pounds - MotoGP Champion; Dani Pedrosa - 112 pounds. Seems that those weighing between 128 and 150 pounds ought to have the weight penalty. Penalizing Pedrosa, like penalizing those who don't buy into Obamacare, are regulations gone wild.
