Champion Russell Bobbitt can
add another checkmark to his
list of accomplishments after clinching his first OMA National Championship of his career with his sixth win
of the 2013 series. With two rounds
still left on the OMA calendar, Bobbitt sealed the deal with a victory at
the FMF Troll Cross-Country in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bobbitt's new OMA
title ends the four-year championship
reign by New Zealand's Paul Whibley,
who was held back this year by injury.
"I'm definitely happy to be able to
get this championship," said Bobbitt.
"We've been fighting hard since the
beginning of the series. We started
off strong and it's good to end strong
still. Good results all the way through
and consistency has really paid off."
Bobbitt was quick to thank his support system for their part in the championship in what was his first year on
the Husaberg after a long stint with
KTM. "The bike's been working great
this year," Bobbitt said of his 300cc
two-stroke 'Berg. "A lot of people just
say it's another blue KTM, but it's got
a lot of its own characteristics that
make it a great bike. That bike was
phenomenal. I've got a good team
with me and a great mechanic. We've
had the bike together and we came
prepared to each round. We were
on top of what we needed to do and
happy with how this year turned out."
After a soaking rain overnight on
Friday, the trails for the Troll XC were
in great shape, and Alec Bill quickly
