CN III VOICES LETTERS TO THE EDITOR P16 "I hope the loss of MotoGP doesn't bankrupt the facility." Dual-Clutch Blues I couldn't agree with Michael Scott more (In The Paddock, Issue 39, October 1), regarding dual-clutch vs. seamless-shift... and so much more. To put the law of unintended consequences more bluntly: money talks, bulls*%t walks. I've never understood fuel restrictions, either. Is Dorna suggesting that when I go comparison-shopping for my next 214 mph street fighter, I pay careful attention to the mpg figures on showroom stickers? MotoGP, and even World Superbike, have nothing to do with what bike I buy next. Racing is a spectacle, and what I want to see are fast bikes and, hopefully, close racing. Moto2 does a nice job of this, so maybe MotoGP should just go with a spec engine, too. Barring that, if the manufacturers want to watch costs and develop trickle-down technology, maybe they should also limit MotoGP bikes to 186 mph, too, the way streetbikes already are. Or forget about clutches and gas tanks altogether, close up shop, and let us watch the electric bikes in TTXGP. Nothing wrong with that, right? Bill Pollack Niskayuna, NY Not Cancelled All "Santa Rosa Mile cancelled" headlines should have read, "Santa Rosa Mile \ Mains Cancelled." It was still a great day in Santa Rosa, as we were able to see all practice, timed practice, heats, semis, Dash For Cash, buy swag, access to the pits… Sure there were no main events, but all involved did everything possible to make it happen, and remember rider safety comes first, before they "entertain" us. It's one of the best mile venues still, and hope Mr. Bellino can make it happen next year. Can anyone recall the last time a California National was cancelled due to Mother Nature? I can't. atrocious at the Laguna Seca World Superbike weekend. The official figure of 41,000 seems way off, as I was a track marshal. The front straight grandstands had maybe 300 people during each World Superbike race and far less during any of the AMA races. There was even a rumor that SCRAMP (the track management organization) gave away 5000 tickets the week leading up to the races. I hope the loss of MotoGP doesn't bankrupt the facility. Tim Tewksbury Santa Rosa, CA Andy Moore Downey, CA Liked It Again Bob Bellino and his organization did a phenomenal job presenting the Santa Rosa Mile. What an amazing venue. But all of the efforts were shot down by inattentive AMA Pro Racing officials, who I'm sure were relying on radar and not cognizant of two meteorological terms: Precipitation and virga. After days of a well-published rain front arriving by 4 p.m. Sunday, I fully expected AMA Pro Racing to move the schedule forward (even one hour would have made all the difference). And now only disappointment reigns. Marquez The Magnificent? Yes, we all are amazed at Marc Marquez' natural ability and how he capitalized on Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa's misfortunes, this year, but who speaks of the fact that he has been on Casey Stoner's old bike – with all his mappings and settings from the get go? He definitely is a wonder, yet I wonder how he would have set up the Honda RC213V on his own, without all of Stoner's previous settings and crew supporting him. And I am sure if he had stayed in MotoGP, Stoner would have presented another huge obstacle to Marquez running away with the title... Just sayin.'
