VOL. 50 ISSUE 39 OCTOBER 1, 2013 ck Briefly... Great Britain's Tommy Searle looked like he found something out on the track at this year's MXoN, grabbing a 3-5 score in his two MX1 motos, but what he actually found was new [old] suspension for his Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F. "Well, we went testing last week in France, which is where the team owner lives, just so we could get some nice weather," Searle said. "We changed a lot to the motor and just made it easier for me to ride because, during the year, I think we went the wrong way and we all realized that when we were down there. And then we tried a different suspension, which was WP, and I instantly felt better with it. I don't think the other stuff was bad at all, but this just suited my riding style much better. I think, obviously, this isn't air [forks], what we've got now. This is back to the original spring. I don't know if that's why it feels better, it just does." Solid performances by Ken de Dycker, Clement Desalle and Jeremy van Horebeek put Belgium back on top at the Motocross of Nations. ny, Team USA had won the event 22 times in 32 years, and a few of the years that Team USA didn't win, they didn't go. As such, the P41 USA is almost always considered a favorite to win the event – not because "The USA is so awesome at everything, but because With Dutch superstar Jeffrey Herlings missing the Motocross of Nations due to injury, it became apparent before the event that the team had to try and find speed wherever it could, so they had 30-year-old Marc "Calimero" de Reuver come out and test with the team. "They didn't want me on the team because I didn't ride GPs this year," De Reuver said. "But it's just fair enough that the fastest guy has to go, from the country, and I'm the fastest MX1 rider, so I had to go. They made some practices and tests to see if I was fast enough, and Herlings was not there, so I was fastest all the time. So they couldn't go around me. And I hope to show them this next year again! When it's Des Nations, I don't quit. And next year it's in Latvia. That's a nice track." continued on next page
