SMALLER IS MORE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARK KARIYA
For Taddy Blazusiak, '13
was proving to be a rather
unlucky year. Nagged by
injuries and unable to push
his way to the front, the
defending EnduroCross
champ decided to make
some drastic mid-season
changes in order to turn
things around. Hitting the
reset button started with
trading in his 350 and
moving to a smaller bike.
"It's a 250, actually,"
Blazusiak pointed out after
the race. "We switched
to the smaller motor before the LA X Games. I thought I
needed a little step back to build up my speed and it was
a good choice. We still came up with a really fast 250 so
it's really cool."
But Taddy explained that
it wasn't all about the bike.
"It was more about
actually like going from
zero," he said. "Switching
the page. We changed
pretty much everything and
I needed that change because I needed to build my
speed back up. I needed
to get back on it and I
think we are pretty close
to where we were last year
but I still feel like we can
build up a little more from
here. Hope I can keep the momentum going through the
next round. I feel good on the bike and I had fun today
racing. That's the important thing."
