VOL. 50 ISSUE 37 SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 a 1.029-second margin of victory over Lewis. There was an intense race long battle for third. RoadRace Factory's Jake Gagne came through to take that position over Bobby Fong, Dane Westby and James Rispoli. It was the first time Lewis ran head to head with Beaubier all season and he said he was impressed by what he saw. "As soon as he came around the corner speed he carried was just crazy," Lewis said of the new champ. "That's the first time I've been with him and felt like I had the pace to run with him every single lap. I actually felt a little bit better than him on the brakes in turn one and into turn seven, but through turn two he was just carrying so much speed and his drive out of there was just really fast. Also through turn eight and nine his corner entry speed and mid-corner speed was just quite a bit faster than mine." In Sunday's race it was no contest. With the championship clinched it was exhibition time for Beaubier and he put on a clinic, winning over teammate Garrett Gerloff by 7.693 seconds. Bobby Fong brought the D&D Cycles Triumph home in third, marking his first podium since the opening round at Daytona in March. It was not a good race to run second. First Lewis crashed out of the spot and then a few laps later Jake Gagne did the same thing, both just an instant after being passed by Beaubier. A great battle developed for fourth and it was Benny Solis nipping Jason DiSalvo at the flag. It marked the best finish of the season for Solis. His previous best was an eighth at Mid-Ohio. GEICO Honda's Dane Westby was in that four-rider battle for fourth (along with Jake Zemke) and was charging, but it appeared he mistook the white flag for the checkered and sat up and slowed one lap too soon. He rallied when he realized what had happened, but could only manage sixth in the end. CN Race One 1. Cameron Beaubier (Yamaha) 2. Jake Lewis (Yamaha) 3. Jake Gagne (Yamaha) 4. He wished Alexander and Puerta the best of luck in the race. In spite of not having TV for the final race of the season, series TV producer Chet Burks, of Chet Burks Productions, says the TV package for next year is coming along well and he said all rounds will be televised in 2014. "Even though we had this issue with the last race, I think almost everyone is happy with the package we provided this year and are back on board for next season," Burks said. "I think the main thing to remember was back in March we were sitting here with no TV package and we scrambled and put together what I think was pretty remarkable coverage. So yes, Laguna is on everyone's mind right now, but if you step back and look at the bigger picture I think we've got the series heading in the right direction. We're so far ahead of the game this year as compared to last. This is a long-term investment for my company. We lost money this year, but we'll do better next year and hopefully in two or three seasons we'll be back to making TV profitable for this series." Burks went on to say that if one or two more manufacturers returned to AMA Superbike he feels it would hasten the comeback of the championship. "After some early hiccups, I think the DMG has righted the ship and has the series headed in a positive direction. I'm hearing that Kawasaki may come back into the series and possibly Aprilia. Regardless, I think AMA Superbike has a bright future and if some of these manufacturers get back involved it will have a very beneficial effect on things."
