P20 IN THE WIND SIMPSON GETS HIS FIRST, HERLINGS WINS AT HOME A lthough the World Championships had already been decided, the Motocross GP finale in Lierop, Netherlands was one for the history books with Shaun Simpson's overall win in the MX1 class – the last one for the World Championship as the name of the class will be changed to MXGP next year. Riding a largely stock Yamaha YZ450F for JK Racing, the 25-year-old Scot won in conditions that he was comfortable in – the wet sandy track of Lierop. Simpson battled with series champion Antonio Cairoli for the win in the first moto, and came out on top after Cairoli crashed with two laps to go trying to pass him. In the second moto, Simpson had to work for third place to secure the overall after a small crash left him back in eighth place. Simpson's win at Lierop was not only his first, but it also marked the first win for a Brit in the class since Billy MacKenzie's win in 2007. Finishing behind him in second was Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Kevin Strijbos with two second-place moto finishes. Cai- Shaun Simpson won his first MX1 overall at Lierop, becoming the first Brit to win an overall in the class since 2007. roli finished a disappointing third with his 4-1 tally with his switch to the 450. Cairoli dominated the second moto, but said a problem with the rear wheel in the first moto was the cause of his crash. In the MX2 class it was business as usual as Cairoli's teammate Jeffrey Herlings dominated in typical fashion in his return from the injury he suffered three weeks ago at the Beligian Grand Prix. In a statement on his Facebook page last week Wiles said: "Earlier today, I was informed by Lloyd Brothers Racing that they have decided to go in a different direction and will no longer need my services. While I am disappointed, I understand their reasons. It has been an honor to race for them [twice] and help develop their Aprilia and Ducati dirt trackers. We have made great strides and I have learned a lot during the past 2 years. I also want to thank Brent Armbruster for all of the effort and long hours he spent on my GNC and 450 program this season. Winning Peoria for the ninth straight time is Henry Wiles won't be riding a Lloyd Brothers bike anymore in 2013. something we will always share. To my fans and sponsors, thank you for your continued support. We all know that when one door closes, others will open. I will have an announcement about the last 2 races of the 2013 season soon and will be working
