option to step up to the 75-watt
system found within the Boom
Box 6.5 as an accessory. The
Boom Box 6.5 comes standard
with the 75-watt-per-channel audio system, but more importantly
it features a full-color GPS Navigation.
The system, complete with
over 35 features, includes Digital Terrain Modeling; navigation
route options (Scenic, Fastest,
Shortest, or Twisty). The new
extensive Point of Interest (POI)
search can lead you to the nearest gas stations, restaurants,
hotels, emergency destinations
and Harley-Davidson dealership
locations. The "dead reckoning"
feature aids navigation in downtown areas with tall buildings and
tunnels with greater accuracy
than cellphones and aftermarket
navigation devices, according to
Harley.
And one of the French journalists on the trip tried out the foreign language voice recognition
options and said that it worked
well. The system is fluent in
English (U.S. and UK), Spanish
(Mexican and Castilian), French,
German, Italian, and Portuguese.
All models that feature the
Boom Box Infotainment system
have a Jukebox media compart-
ment on the right side of the
screen display on the dash with
one touch accessible. The Jukebox, as Harley calls it, is water
resistant and features a padded
interior complete with a USB port
for charging or connecting to
your smart phone or MP3 player.
This is some amazing technology
to be featured on a bike and no
doubt it will become standard just
like in the automotive market.
