Kocinski's First
John Kocinski (49) made his 500cc
Grand Prix debut at the SpaFrancorchamps circuit in Belgium in
1989 to do battle against the likes of
Kevin Schwantz (34), Wayne Rainey
and Eddie Lawson. The race itself
was a bit of a debacle as it was red
flagged twice and the winner was in
doubt until the FIM decided to cancel
the last portion of the race that had
been run. Kocinski was originally third,
then dropped to fifth. Either way, a
spectacular debut.
