some fun grass-track sections,
as well.
"I had a good solid ride and
the Husaberg worked really well
today," Bobbitt added. "I'm just
happy to get another win and
looking forward to the next round
in Iowa."
While the day might've been fun
for Bobbitt, it was a frustrating one
for Fahringer. After blowing up the
motor on his usual Husaberg 300
mount, Fahringer was frustrated
with the lack of bottom-end grunt
provided by his backup 250.
"It was definitely challenging,"
said Fahringer, "especially on an
unfamiliar bike. I know [race promoter] Bill [Gusse] aims to challenge us, and I was challenged,
so I guess in that aspect it was
good."
Finishing one lap down to Bobbitt and Fahringer after having
put in eight laps of trail, 30-39 Aclass winner Curtis Ryan and his
RC1 Performance Cheap Cycle
Parts Yamaha took third place
overall followed by Marty Michaels on the Gill Roofing House
of Horsepower KTM 300 XC. He
also took second in the 30-39 A
class.
Steve Leivan rounded out the
overall top five, riding the Freedom Cycles Dunlop Tires Silkolene KTM 250 two-stroke for
the Open A-class win.
"Overall it was a good day,"
Leivan said. "I'm not good at reading the trail fast enough, though. I
really feel like I've been struggling
this year at the beginning. It takes
me a little bit to get going."
(Top left) ) Curtis Ryan, the 30-39
A-class winner, joined Bobbitt and
Fahringer on the podium.
(Top right) Marty Michels had a
strong ride with fourth overall and
second in the 30-39 A division.
(Right) Steve Leivan said it took him
a while to get going but once he did,
he ran off with the Open A-class win.
Once he did get going, though
Leivan was rolling well and picking off riders, capitalizing on mistakes made by those in front of
him. "I felt like I rode pretty good
the last couple laps," he said. "It
seemed like the white flag came
out awfully fast. Usually I'm begging for it and this time it came up
pretty quick. I was going good at
the end, so it's good."
Completing the top 10 were
Darren Carlson with second
place in the Open A class on a
