IN THE WIND WEBBER AT SILVERSTONE F ormula One racecar driver Mark Webber (shown with BBC commentator Matt Roberts) was on hand to watch the British MotoGP at Silverstone. The Australian nine-time GP race winner is a big fan of the motorcycling side of Grand Prix racing. Webber has announced his retirement from Formula One, though he will continue racing after signing a deal with Porsche to race in the World Endurance Championship. B rit Scott Redding, the current Moto2 World Championship leader and winner of Sunday's British Moto2 race, will ride a Honda RCV1000R for Team Go & Fun Honda Gresini next season, after signing a two-year agreement that will see the promising 20-year-old riding the Japanese factory's new 'production racer.' Redding will begin testing the new Honda after the conclusion of the 2013 season. "I'm delighted to be able to work with a young talent like Scott Redding," said team owner Fausto Gresini. "We have signed a two-year contract together, with the clear aim of building an ambitious project that should see him develop and be taken to the pinnacle of MotoGP. Scott has already shown that he has a lot of quality and so we are proud to welcome him into our team. In 2008, a 15-year-old Redding became the youngest-ever rider to win a GP when he won his home race the 125cc Grand Prix at Donington Park. He was named Rookie of the Year that season. This was why it was so important to me that I made this step with an experienced team, and there are few more experienced in the MotoGP paddock than Team Go & Fun Honda Gresini. But my focus now is on winning the Moto2 World Championship for Marc van der Straten, without whose support over the past four years I wouldn't even have been given this opportunity to move up to the premier class." Redding and Gresini hope to follow in the footsteps of World Championship leader Marc Marquez, who has made a spectacular transition this season from Moto2 to MotoGP.
