his death.). There were the vaguely
disturbing 'old ladies' inciting fans
to dance Gangnam Style around
Silverstone's massive site, from
the Entertainment Zone to the paddock and pits. Lucky fans thrilled
to the crackle of Valentino Rossi's
Yamaha M1, fired up by mechanics, and kids explored Colin Wilson's garage; and Niall Mackenzie
and Bradley Smith led street riders
on two separate ride-ins to Silverstone, ending with two laps of the
longest circuit on the MotoGP calendar.
Valentino Rossi is always a big fundraiser for Riders and this year was no
different. On the day, some $325,00
was raised.
In addition, Riders co-founder
Randy Mamola presented Experience Africa, a Zambian adventure
in which you can witness the most
exotic animals, waterfalls, and twowheeling in the world – at a cost
of about $6000, which includes
a life-saving $3000 contribution
to Riders' work. A few (inevitably
frightened) folks also rode pillion on
Mamola's Ducati built for two.
