ROUND 11/AUGUST 25, 2013
BRNO CIRCUIT/BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC
MOTOGP
P72
MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Briefly...
– especially Pol Espargaro
and Scott Redding – Dunlop introduced a new compound at Brno that increased
durability without sacrificing
the grip, and reversed the
comments from several riders. Espargaro was particularly pleased, after running
a 28-lap race simulation in
free practice and finding that
at the end, "the tire was still
normal, still good. Thanks
to Dunlop; they are doing a
great job," he said. "Maybe
the grip is not the best, but
they are improving, and so
are we."
Pole qualifier Takaaki Nakagami echoed his comments after a 20-lap test
run of his own. He had lost
a long-time lead at Indy because of tire problems at the
end, but was confident that
the new tire would prevent it
from happening again. Only
Redding was less happy, reporting major chatter problems and a difficulty with
set-up. The construction is
the same, said a Dunlop engineer, but the compound
new. "Most riders like it, but
you can't please everybody."
(Left) All smiles and why
not: Marc Marquez is on
top of the world.
Colin Edwards's
fortunes continue to
rise as he ended up
11th. He'd qualified as
the top CRT rider on
Saturday.
