T
he Mega Mile at Colonial
Downs was custom made
for the high-revving Kawasaki EX650 of Bryan Smith's. In fact,
his rivals had basically conceded
the race to him before it even
started. But the one maxim in racing that holds true is that nothing
is predictable. And such was the
case on Saturday when Smith's
bike had problems, quickly followed by a motor failure on Brad
Baker's Harley-Davidson, and it
was Jared Mees, who was steady
and strong all race, emerging as
the leader and eventual winner at
the Virginia Mega Mile – for his
first win of the season.
Mees took over at the halfway
