P24 IN THE WIND Nations in Germany at the end of September. This not only comes as a disappointment for Herlings and the Dutch team, but also for the motocross world in general – most of whom were looking forward to a Herlings/Eli Tomac showdown in the 250 class. Before his injury, Herlings was having a spectacular season – having won all 13 GP overalls while losing two motos. An impressive feat that earned him the championship title at the previous round in the Czech Republic. Now Herlings will be focused on recovering from his injury and preparing for his assault on the 2014 championship. PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARK KARIYA The news came from two different specialists, including the renowned expert Dr. Toon Claes, and their verdicts were that it would be five to six weeks before Herlings would be able to ride or train on the bike. This means he will not only miss the remaining two Motocross Grands Prix - at Matterley Basin and Lierop - but also the Motocross of Famed desert racer Jack Johnson paid a visit at the Muley Run National Hare & Hound in Nevada. LOOK WHO SHOWED UP T he Trailblazers Motorcycle Club coaxed desertracing legend Jack Johnson out of Las Vegas to attend the Muley Run National Hare & Hound in Panaca, Nevada on August 24. Johnson signed autographs and watched Kurt Caselli clinch the 2013 AMA Hare & Hound Championship. Johnson is the only person to overall the Baja 500 solo. He started his climb to fame by winning the Mint 400 in 1975 and added major victories in a career that spanned four decades, including four overalls in the Baja 1000, as well as eight class wins, one of which came in a truck. Mark Kariya LEGENDS BATTLE T he Isle of Man Classic TT turned back the clock to 1967 with a reenactment of that year's Senior TT between Giacomo Agostini and Mike Hailwood. The re-creation featured Agostini on his MV and TT legend John McGuinness on a replica of the late Hailwood's Honda. Hailwood ultimately won the real race after the Englishman clawed back into Agostini's lead before Italian's chain broke on the fifth lap.
