In addition to several national championship series, such as the AMA National Enduro Series, AMA EnduroCross Series, and East and West National Hare Scrambles Series, a rider can also qualify for the Big Sky XC National Championship by finishing in the top 10 of the AMA Kenda Tennessee Knockout, the AMA Last Dog Standing, or the AMA Idaho City ISDE qualifier. The Pro race is a three-hour race on the most difficult course on the mountain, however, the amateur classes run on an easier trail and for shorter distances. The C classes and the Junior and Senior divisions race for 90 minutes, while the Mini Junior riders race for 50 minutes and the 50cc classes race for 35 minutes. The race was a rugged and grueling cross-country that wound up and down the many ski runs at the resort, but Mullins didn't seem to let the extreme nature of the trail affect him as the FMF/ KTM rider pulled away to a large margin of victory after three hours of racing.
