SUZUKI AMERICA TURNS 50
O
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ANDREW NORTHCOTT
n August 16, American Suzuki turned 50. But rather
than throwing a private party to
celebrate its birthday, the company chose to kick off its celebration with the fans at Red Bull
Indianapolis Grand Prix.
Located at the prime spot inside turn one, not only did fans
have a nice viewing location for
the GP, but there were also plenty of activities and displays for
them to participate in and enjoy
in between the action on track.
Although Suzuki owners received VIP treatment, the display
area was accessible to everyone.
Your Suzuki key gained access
to the VIP hospitality tent, but if
you brought your Suzuki to the
track you got special parking by
the display and could get a professional photo of you and your
bike. Another perk for Suzuki
owners was a free bike inspection by factory service techs,
which proved to be a huge hit.
Celebrating its rich history
in racing, both the AMA Superbike race trucks – Jordan Suzuki and Yoshimura – were on
hand displaying their collection
of race bikes over the years.
The teams' current riders - Roger Lee Hayden, Danny Eslick,
Martin Cardenas, Chris Clark
and Corey Alexander - were
also on hand to sign autographs
for the fans.
Fans at the Indianapolis U.S. GP had
plenty to look at and lots to do at
Suzuki's 50th Anniversary display.
Also on display were the Ultimate Hayabusa competition
bikes, other Suzuki models, and
their newly unveiled special-edition GSX-R1000.
Making sure that the younger
generation of future motorcycle
enthusiasts wasn't forgotten they
had a kid's area and a spot to get
your photo on a GSXR with your
knee down for kids of all ages to
bring home as a souvenir.
