KENDA TENNESSEE KNOCKOUT, FUELD BY MONSTER ENERGY
point, so it was Brown, Taylor and
me fighting for second behind
Webb. I knew that I was in fourth,
but I also knew that second was
within my reach, so I was looking for good lines to make it happen. I got past Brown, but I just
couldn't get close enough to
pass Taylor. He would make a
mistake and I would reel him in,
but then I would make a mistake
and he would pull away. So it was
a good race, just back and forth,
but I never could get him."
Webb's American Beta teammate Max Gerston beat out
French Sherco rider Fabien Planet for fourth.
"I hit a tree on the sighting lap
and I hit my shoulder so hard I
thought I was going to wad up,
and then I also got stung by a bee
on the sighting lap," Gerston said.
"But I must have got all my bad
luck out of the way on the sighting lap, because the main event
went great for me. I just kept the
mistakes to a minimum and I rode
nice and smooth and it paid off."
Planet was riding the event at
the invitation of the U.S. Sherco
importer, Sherco Offroad. The
World Enduro standout normally
rides a two-stroke in World Enduro competition, but rode Sherco's 300i instead, since only two
of the two-strokes were in the
States at the time.
Last year's winner Mike Brown
struggled a bit on the wet rocks
this year.
Fabien, said that he enjoyed
the event, but commented afterwards in broken English, "stones,
stones, stones!"
