ended any chance he had for an
overall podium finish. "It feels great
to get a podium finish in a moto,"
said Cianciarulo "I know this is where
I need to be. On the start I picked a
line through the first corners and I'm
not sure why it worked but I came out
with the leaders so that was good.
Unfortunately I wasn't as lucky in
the second moto, I had a bike run
over my stomach during the first turn
crash, but I knew I could salvage a
good finish and I did."
Justin Brayton, Ryan Villopoto,
Justin Bogle and Martin Davalos
were the winners of the Motorcycle
SuperStore.com Holeshot Award
at Miller. Wil Hahn already won the
$15,000 for the most holeshots in
the 250 class, but the $25,000
offered in the 450 class is still up
for grabs. Going into the last round
at Lake Elsinore, James Stewart
holds a one-point lead over Justin
Barcia. Three points back and still
in the running is Ryan Villopoto.
The 2013 AMA Horizon Award winner, Matt Bisceglia, made his
second pro start at Miller. In his
rookie debut the weekend before
at Unadilla, he picked up his first
pro point with a 20th-place finish
in the second moto. At Utah, he
earned five more after going 20-17
for 20th overall. "It's a big learning
experience, for sure," he said after
his Unadilla debut. These guys are
gnarly fast. The intensity surprised
me; it's a learning curve for sure."
Villopoto sewed things up early
surprisingly easily at Miller Motorsports Park, a new venue for the
series, but it should've been a lot
harder when you consider, in order to do so, he had to win both
motos, which included beating
Ryan Dungey, who desperately
SmartTop/MotoConcepts' Mike
Alessi did not race. He suffered a
shoulder injury the week before at
Unadilla and chose to sit this one
out in hopes of being better for the
final at Lake Elsinore.
