10RR," said Gerloff. "I feel like we got the most out of the bike that we could, and top 10 in the championship is something that I am decently happy with. For sure next year I want to make some big improvements and come back fighting stronger and for better positions." In the final championship points Bulega has 726, Lecuona 563, Montella 318 and Sam Lowes 268, just nine points up on Alex Lowes. WorldSSP New champ Albert Arenas (AS Racing Yamaha), with a previ- ous career in the MotoGP junior classes, set about his home track like a man possessed in race one, and would eventually win by five-tenths of second. He was initially chased by a deter- mined Can Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing), but it was the comeback specialist, Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team), who finally whizzed past almost everyone in front of him to get to the outer reaches of Arenas' slipstream. Oncu was third, and Tom Booth-Amos (Triumph Factory Racing) fourth. In race two, Arenas was taken out by Booth-Amos, who also fell, leaving the highly unlikely final 1-2 being Alcoba and his team- mate Dominique Aegerter. A red flag came out just as they went 1-2 out front, after 11 laps. Sec- ond was an amazing result for "Domi," easily his best result in green—shortly before he and Al- coba get ejected from the official Kawasaki squad for next year. Matteo Ferrari (WRP Racing Ducati) was an overjoyed podium finisher in third, for his climb of the big post-race steps this year. In the final points, Arenas has 389, Valentin Debise on the ZXMoto with 308, while Alcoba jumped up to third with 274. Oncu had 263. WorldSPB True drama involving Aussie rider Carter Thompson (Team Br- Corse) and championship leader heading to Jerez, David Salvador (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI), saw them collide in the first race of the weekend, and Salvador no- scored. His only championship rival, Xavi Artigas (MTM Kawa- saki), won the race from Suzuki rider Ferre Fleerackers (Track & Trades Wixx Racing Suzuki) and first-time podium rider, Alvaro Fuertes (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team Kawasaki). Artigas entered the final race with a 13-point advantage over Salvador, not a pre-race-one 12-point deficit. In the second race, Thompson finally got clear of the pack to win, with Antonio Torres (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) second and Jose Osuna (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team Kawasaki) a first- time podium finisher. Eighth was enough for Artigas WIND IN THE P48 Xavi Artigas was given a helping hand to the WorldSPB title in race one and made it stick with an eighth place in race two.
