ent days. The U.S. win one day,
Sweden win another day, France
win another day, Italy win so a lot
of teams were competitive.
"But when you were quite
consistent through the day and
through the week also [like we
were], I think this was a bit the
key [to our success]."
Junior World Trophy
The situation was much the
same in Junior World Trophy.
Italy jumped to the front right
away on the strength of a 1-2 by
Alberto Elgari and Manuel Verze-
roli, but Toby Cleveland was best
of the rest at third. Cooper Jones
and Jason Tino completed the
day 13th and 15th, respectively,
to place the team third behind
Italy and France, which filled the
him to the 38th-best time among
all WT riders.
For the week, Davis was the
highest finishing individual
behind only Verona, Garcia and
Pichon. Oliveira lifted himself
to 11th with that final moto win
while Girroir ended up 13th and
Baylor 28th.
After an initial celebration with
his teammates, Verona explained,
"I'm really happy about the overall
win, but for sure to win also with
the Trophy team is even better
and also back-to-back, so I'm re-
ally happy about this week.
"Certainly I knew that we had
a good team, but I also knew
that the other teams were also
really good because I think at
this stage we've seen a [few] dif-
ferent teams winning on differ-
single loop with three tests.)
The final motocross test on the
beach was—to everyone's relief—
dust-free and an excellent show
with the 99-percent sand track.
(The exception was a run up and
down concrete stairs, a unique
and somewhat unusual feature of
any 6Days final moto.)
With the fastest WT riders in
the final race of the day, Oliveira
jetted to the front immediately
and kept a small gap over Verona
en route to adding another final
moto win to his growing resume,
with Davis coming through to fin-
ish third, a tenth of a second be-
hind Verona. Girroir was less than
two seconds behind for fourth,
while Baylor had a crash negate
his decent start with unknown
