2027 BMW F 450 RR First Look
B
MW Motorrad is making
good on its promise to enter
the entry-level sportbike class
for 2027 with the addition of
the F 450 RR to its lineup. It will
be available in two variants in
Europe, but America will only get
the M-Sport variant.
Developed by Indian partners
TVR, the F 450 RR is powered
by the same basic 420cc liquid-
cooled parallel-twin introduced
in the F 450 GS, producing a
claimed 48 horsepower at 8750
rpm and 31.7 lb-ft of torque at
6750 rpm.
A 135-degree crankshaft lay-
out gives the engine an uneven
firing order intended to provide a
characterful exhaust note, while
a balance shaft helps control
vibration.
The six-speed transmission
can be equipped with BMW's
optional Easy Ride Clutch, a cen-
trifugal system that allows the
motorcycle to pull away without
the rider operating the clutch
lever—a first for the category.
A quickshifter is also available,
while the RR's shift pattern can
be reversed for track use.
Styling takes obvious inspira-
tion from BMW's S 1000 RR, with
a full fairing, compact propor-
tions and clip-on handlebars
giving the F 450 RR a distinctly
sporting stance.
The chassis uses a steel
frame, KYB upside-down fork,
aluminum swingarm and rear
shock. Seventeen-inch wheels
carry 110/70 front and 150/60
rear tires, while braking is
handled by a 310mm front disc
with a single ByBre four-piston
caliper.
Electronics include cornering
ABS, traction control, engine-
brake control and three riding
modes (Rain, Road and Race)
standard and an optional Race
Pro riding mode. A 6.5-inch TFT
display provides connectivity and
is joined by LED lighting, stan-
dard heated grips and a USB-C
outlet.
BMW lists a ready-to-ride
weight of 390 pounds and a
31.1-inch seat height, giving the
F 450 RR a relatively accessible
physical package.
The M Sport version coming
to America is expected to be on
dealer floors next summer, with
a starting price of $7815.

The new 450 RR
certainly is a real
looker and represents
Germany's first real
move into the junior
sportbike class.
