Team USA Wins Enduro Vintage
Veterans Trophy
T
he United States achieved
a historic victory in the FIM
Enduro Vintage Trophy (EVT)
at its 10th edition in Zschopau,
Germany, October 1-4.
On the final and fourth day
of racing, the United States,
favored to win this year's Vin-
tage Veterans Trophy, delivered
a strong performance. Ending
a nearly flawless week, Fred
Hoess (Husqvarna), Billy Burns
(Can-Am), and Terry Cunning-
ham (Husqvarna) won their first
FIM EVT victory.
"It's been an incredible week,"
said Hoess after the Final Cross
Test in Zschopau. "We've really
come together as a team to get
this result. Thank you to every-
one for the support.
"Overall, it's been a brilliant,
but tough, event. They say
Zschopau is the motorcycle city,
and definitely, it's been a spec-
tacular place to race!"
For Austria, any opportunity to
capitalize on a mistake from the
United States on day four never
materialized. Nevertheless, they
still had plenty of reasons to
celebrate, ending their week as
vice champions. Thanks to their
strong performances on day
three and day four, Italy complet-
ed the podium in third overall.
As the outgoing champions
of the FIM EVT, Germany was
unable to secure the podium
result on home soil that they
had initially hoped for. Fighting
until the end, the team finished
a commendable fourth overall.
Team Czechia completed the
top five.
Hoess (Husqvarna) capped
off a great week of racing by
winning the final Cross Test in
the Vintage Veterans Trophy
individual classification. Hoess
beat Bernhard Walzer (KTM) for
second, with Italy's Tullio Pel-
legrinelli (Puch-Frigerio) third.
