the checkered flag. Johnson
took home a safe second and
secured the overall champi-
onship while Kane Bollasina
rounded out the podium in third.
"I qualified fastest in practice
and timed qualifying, so I wanted
to make a statement today,"
Johnson said. "This is my fifth
straight SMX Next podium. I
wanted the win, but Ryder was
riding awesome. I didn't want to
risk throwing away the champi-
onship, so I'm satisfied with that.
I'm just so happy and so proud
of myself to accomplish this. I'm
ready for someone to give me an
opportunity [at the professional
level]."

The SMX Next World All-Stars
raced their championship-
deciding eight-minute-plus-one-
lap main event on Saturday
night. ClubMX Yamaha's Ryder
Malinoski and Kawasaki Team
Green's Kade Johnson, the
points leader, sprinted away
from the rest of the field in the
early laps and made it a two-
man race for the win. Malinoski
overall, with Kayden Minear
rounding out the top five. Pierce
Brown, Drew Adams, Landen
Gordon, Dilan Schwartz and
Cameron McAdoo completed
the top 10.
Title favorite and 250SX East
and 250MX Champion Cole
Davies had another tough night.
After finishing fourth in race one,
he crashed out spectacularly in
race two. The damage to his bike
proved too severe to continue
and the Star Racing Yamaha rider
retired early. He was credited
