Desert racing was the hot topic 50 years ago, and
we featured an interview with rising desert-racing
star Larry Roeseler... Jay Springsteen won the
Syracuse Mile... We previewed Team USA for the
1976 ISDT... We explained how to rebuild your MX
bike's blown-out Marzocchi gas/oil shocks... We
compared the MV Agusta 750, Ducati Desmo
750SS, Moto Guzzi 850, Laverda "Jota" and
Laverda 1000 street bikes, with the latter
taking top honors.

We gave you our first impressions of the 1997
Yamaha YZ125, Honda CR125 and Kawasaki KX250
motocrossers 30 years ago... Carl Fogarty won the
Assen WorldSBK... Frederic Bolley won the final
round of the 250cc World Championship MX Series in
Switzerland. Stefan Everts wrapped up the title but
not officially. In an earlier race, a fuel sample from
his bike failed a test and the legal wrangling had yet
to be ironed out.
