Turner crashed in the same turn
that had cost her positions the
day before, dropping her deep in
the field.
Needing only a 10th-place finish
or better to clinch the title, Turner
regrouped and charged forward,
reaching 10th on lap two and
ultimately climbing to fourth at the
checkers.
Up front, Cannon controlled the
race. Herrick moved into second
and closed to within less than a
second of the leader on lap four,
although Cannon responded to the
challenge and held firm to take the
moto win and the 1-1 overall. Guil
-
len finished third in the moto and
third overall after a 2-3 weekend.
Cannon's dominant weekend
claimed the overall, yet the final
moto delivered drama fitting a
championship closer as Turner's
grit under fire sealed her third
straight WMX title.
