Florida Motocross Legend Passes T he motocross community mourns the loss of Jerry West, of Lake City, Florida, who passed away on August 22. He was the younger brother of race promoter Bill West and, for a time, served as co-promoter of several prominent supercross events, including the Mini O's, the Gatorback National, and various Super Sports orga - nized competitions across the Southeastern United States. He was 81 years old. Jerry Patrick West was born on October 14, 1944, in Clarks - ville, Tennessee, to Carroll and Elois West. In the 1970s, Jerry moved his family to St. Peters - burg, Florida, where he and his brother, William "Bill" West, promoted motocross races at Sunshine Speedway. In later years, they continued working together to promote outdoor mo - tocross events and Supercross races. Over the years, Jerry and Bill became known as legends at Gatorback Cycle Park in Gaines - ville, Florida. Jerry eventually made his home in Lake City. Jerry was kind, funny, gener - ous and witty—a friend to many. His quick, sharp sense of humor was his trademark and will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He loved playing golf with his friends at the Lake City Country Club. Jerry is survived by his part - ner, Carolyn Castagna, and her daughter, Holly Castagna; his daughter, Brandy (Charles) Brim; his brother, Bobby West of St. Petersburg, Florida; his sister, Vicki West of Clarksville, Ten - nessee; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jerry will be deeply missed. CN WIND IN THE P36 Well-known and well-liked race co-promoter Jerry West passed away at the age of 81. Crivilin wins 2026 Sertoes Rally B runo Crivilin (Honda) claimed victory in the 2026 Sertoes Rally motorcycle division after eight grueling stages across Bra- zil, overcoming a dramatic final- day scare to secure the overall title for Honda Racing. Crivilin built his advantage through the middle stages, taking the overall lead after Stage four when he won the special ahead of defending champion Tosha Scha - reina (Honda). Schareina's bid for back-to-back victories then ended abruptly in stage five when the Monster Energy Honda HRC rider crashed and was forced to retire, though he says he's okay. From there, Crivilin controlled the rally, although the final stage delivered another dose of drama when he encountered a cow on the course and, while trying to avoid it, crashed into a tree, dam- aging his bike. Unable to continue by him- self, Crivilin was caught by his teammate, Martim Ventura, who stopped to help Crivilin and towed him toward the finish line, allowing him to complete the rally and secure the overall win with a time of 37:10:43. Ventura turned a strong debut for the factory Monster Energy Honda HRC team into second overall, finishing 24:21 behind Crivilin while also winning the Moto 2 category. Guilherme Bis - sotto (Yamaha) completed the overall podium, 1:27:55 behind the winner. Marcelo Medeiros (KTM) and Ricardo Martins (Hon- da) rounded out the top five. CN OVERALL (Top 5) 1.
