down the leaders and later won by
more than 25 seconds despite a
fall. Another mistake in race two
relegated him to second, swapping
scores with Beaumer on the day.
Hymas came alive in the second
half of the season, finishing the year
with five straight podium finishes.
He tied Levi Kitchen for third in the
championship standings.
"Earlier in the season I'd be super
stoked to be in this position, but
today I'm bummed," Hymas said.
"I rode my butt off in the second
moto. If it wasn't for that mistake.
I've got to ride that roller coaster
and in the grand scheme of things,
I'm doing alright."
Ryder DiFrancesco rounded out
the overall podium in third. He had
his work cut out all day, starting
28th on lap one and clawing back
to seventh. A better result came in
race two, where DiFrancesco ran as
high as second before being passed
by Hymas late in the moto. A 7-3
scorecard earned DiFrancesco his
third overall podium of the year and
helped cap off his best Pro Moto
-
cross season to date, as he finished
fifth in the championship.
"Both
qualifying sessions were
good, and I literally came from the
back to seventh in the first moto,
which was a nice ride, although
I'm still frustrated as I feel like I'm
leaving a little bit on the table,"
DiFrancesco said. "I think I'll get off
the gate well in SMX though and
really show what we can do there.
But it was a solid day in third overall
and now looking forward to these
last three—I feel like we are in with a
good shot at it."
Landen Gordon led laps before
finishing fourth overall, with Pierce
Brown taking his best result of the
season in fifth.
