Landen Gordon, a 250MX
rookie, earned his first moto po-
dium and first-career overall po-
dium. The Monster Energy Star
Racing Yamaha rider kicked off
his day with a strong qualifying
time, going to the line in fourth.
This helped the youngster get
up front early in race two as he
moved to third on the second
lap. A hard-fought second moto
saw him as far back as 11th
before clawing his way back to
seventh at the checkers. Gor
-
don's results put two Yamahas
overall for the day, marking his
third straight podium. Davies
dominated the opening race,
leading all but one lap en route
to his eighth moto win of the
year. At that point, he technically
overtook Levi Kitchen for the
series points lead. Davies took
a safe third-place finish in race
two. His strategy paid dividends
as he solidified his status as the
man to beat heading into the
final round next weekend at Iron
-
man Raceway. The 250SX East
Coast champ now leads Kitchen
by 14 with one round remaining.
"It's not over till it's over,"
Davies said. "I just need to focus
race. At times, they'd be side by
side, but Kitchen never made
a pass stick. The moto victory
marked a first for Hymas this
summer and gave him the third
overall win of his career. He's
now just five points shy of Julien
Beaumer for third in this year's
championship.
"It feels amazing to get back
to this point," Hymas said. "I owe
so much to my team for their
support of me and everything
they've done to get us here.
Holeshot, wire-to-wire, it doesn't
get any better than that."
