WIND
IN THE
P46
leader, archrival Tom Drane and
knocked both riders out of first
and second—graduated to down-
right dystopian in its aftermath.
The 1st Impressions Husqvar-
na pilot was both disqualified
from the race and assigned a
five-point penalty, leaving him
with a rare "-5" in the points
column.
Rather than dull his aggres
-
sion, the fallout saw Saathoff's
natural tendency remade from a
sledgehammer into a scalpel.
Unable to beat OTB Racing
Yamaha's Bradon Pfanders off
the line despite being given mul
-
tiple attempts to do so, Saathoff
was forced instead to execute a
patient and precise strike.
He did so twice, first acing
Pfanders in the last corner of the
four-lap Kathy "Gram" Deubler
Challenge and then again a min
-
ute and a half into the main.
Once through, Saathoff pow-
ered away to at last secure his
first victory of the 2026 season.
He was joined on the box by
the resurgent duo of American
Honda Turner Racing's Kage
Tadman and JMC Motorsports/
Fairway GMC KTM's Trevor Brun
-
ner.
Pfanders held on for fourth,
while Roof Systems/Texas Util
-
ity Studies/Vinson Construction
Honda's Tarren Santero com-
pleted the top five.
Meanwhile, Drane's Sturgis
struggles carried over from
Saturday to Monday. Pinched
between two riders off the line,
the Aussie tumbled to the dirt
and was struck by another rider
from behind. The Estenson Rac
-
ing hero was nearly held out of
the restart, but he passed the
field test required by medical
officials. Forced to line up at the
back of the field, Drane gamely
fought his way up to seventh.
Despite the double disaster,
Drane still has a very real chance
of locking up his second class
crown next time out at Peoria.
He currently leads second-
ranked Saathoff by 42 points
(241-199) with Tadman third at
183.
