SuperMann is the third in a series of exhibits featured in the new Hall of Leg-
ends and celebrates the highlights of Mann's numerous championship seasons as
well as his professional achievements and contributions to the sport, including his
current work for the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association
(AHRMA). Featured bikes include his Daytona-winning BSA Rocket III, a Match-
less G50 road racer, a BSA Gold Star dirt tracker, and several other key bikes
from his career.
Mann was the first person in history to win every category in AMA Grand
National competition, is a two-time Daytona 200 winner, a two-time AMA Grand
National Champion, and has 24 AMA national race wins to his credit. Mann com-
peted in over 230 AMA nationals, including dirt track, road racing and motocross,
racing at the professional level for over 25 years. Mann was a natural choice for a
Motorcycle Hall of Fame exhibit.
"Dick was just a fierce and multitalented competitor who mastered virtually
every type of motorcycle racing he ever threw his leg over," said the museum's
executive director Mark Mederski. "His mechanical expertise also made him that
rare breed of racer who could build a fast bike by himself, race and win with it."
SuperMann isn't simply to present the hardware used by Mann, but is designed
to dive deep into the stories behind the legend. The mission was accomplished by
SuperMann curator, Motorcycle Hall of Fame member and historian Ed Young-
blood. Youngblood also penned the Dick Mann biography, Mann of His Time.
