TM rider Russell Bobbitt moved
another step closer toward win-
ning his first AMA National
Enduro title by overalling the
Mosquito Classic National
Enduro in Michigan. Bobbitt carded a 38,
while second- and third-place finishers,
Barry Hawk and Stephen Edmondson,
weren't too far behind, posting scores of 40
and 41, respectively.
This was Bobbitt's third-consecutive win
and the fourth of the year.
His story was typical of that of a winner of
an off-road event - everything went smoothly.
"I didn't really have any problems; I went
down a couple of times, but I also made
some good line choices," the 20-year-old
rider from Georgia said. "I just tried to ride
consistent and stay out of trouble."
Bobbitt either tied or won seven of the
enduro's eight special tests, only giving up
one tiebreaker to Edmondson, who bested
Bobbitt by just three seconds in that test.
GNCC-regular Hawk also had a good
day, finishing just off of Bobbitt's pace. But
he admitted that Bobbitt was the better
rider on this day.
"Bobbitt just plain beat me straight
up," Hawk said. "I have no excuses. I had
a little trouble in the first test, where I
got held up [by a slower rider]. Even if I
could have made up two minutes [on
Bobbitt] he still would've beat me on
tiebreakers."
Rounding out the top-five overall
was Robbie Jenks and Blair Bersano.
