T here's nothing like Silverstone to throw up a surprise. Well, maybe not entirely a surprise, as we've all known Raul Fernandez's (Trackhouse Aprilia) speed is unquestioned, but the Spaniard put everyone on notice that he is not to be discounted from the conversation of who will win this topsy-turvy 2026 MotoGP World Championship. Fernandez was fantastic in the wide-open spaces of Silver - stone as the yellow-and-black Aprilia cast a long shadow out in front, with title leader and Satur- day Sprint winner Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing Team) doing nothing about his compatriot while running in second. Arguably the biggest cheer was reserved for the still-hurting Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing Team), who, with his recently plated collarbone from his Ger - man GP crash, took his first Sun- day points in nearly two months in third, somewhat stemming the title bleeding to Martin. In Moto2, we'll be talking about this barnstormer of a race for years, as Filip Salac (American Racing Team) scored a debut GP win after Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) counted his chickens before they hatched, celebrating what he thought was the race win until he realized there was still one lap to go. Oops. In Moto3, David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) scored a seven-tenths-of- second win after runaway title leader Max Quiles (CFMoto Val - resa Aspar Team) was sidelined with a broken collarbone after a monster highside crash in final qualifying on Saturday. MotoGP Sprint Jorge Martin completed a golden Saturday at Silverstone by taking his third Tissot Sprint victory of the season over Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team). Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) completed the podium in third, giving Aprilia its first Sprint 1-2-3. Martin made a perfect launch from pole and led Ogura into turn one, while Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) moved into third. Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) battled behind, with Marquez eventually mov - ing into fourth at the end of the opening lap. Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) dropped to sixth. ROUND 12 / AUGUST 7-9, 2026 SILVERSTONE / TOWCESTER, UNITED KINGDOM ROAD RACE I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P56 BY RENNIE SCAYSBROOK • PHOTOGRAPHY BY GOLD & GOOSE Raul Fernandez was flawless in Great Britain. His second win in the premier class was a statement that he's not out of the title race yet.
