Webb, Anstie Win WSX Season Opener

he opening round of the 2026
FIM World Supercross Cham-
pionship kicked off at McMahon
Stadium in Calgary, Canada, on
August 7-8. The gate included
defending champions Jason
Anderson and Max Anstie, who
highlighted the first race of the
six-round series. Anstie swept
the SX2 division with three wins,
while Cooper Webb earned his
first overall victory in SX1.
Webb made his full-time WSX
debut in Calgary with the Rick
Ware Racing team. The three-
time AMA Supercross champ
raced as a wild card in the 2025
Australian GP and competed on
his usual Monster Energy Star
Racing Yamaha YZ450F under
the RWR signage. Webb finished
second in the first of three races
and then won the second main
event. He pulled away to a huge
lead in the third and final race of
the night before a sudden wind
-
storm prompted a red flag. The
third main event did not count
toward the night's overall points,
but Webb still took the overall
with 2-1 finishes.
"It was sick; honestly it was
beautiful to get in the win," Webb
said. "It was pretty gnarly, and
as we see, the weather's coming
in, so we had a red flag, unfortu-
nately, but I was feeling good."
Dean Wilson used consistency
to his advantage as he claimed
second on the night. The Quad
Lock Honda rider set the pace
early, topped qualifying and then
placed third in both main events.
Wilson was again battling in po-
dium position during race three
when the red flag came out.
Wilson, who is filling in for Joey
Savatgy, was happy to come
out with a podium in front of the
Canadian fans.
"It was awesome; I had so
much fun," Wilson said. "The
crowd was unbelievable tonight.
They were so into the racing, and
that's all you can ask for. The
roost was so bad, but I'm stoked
with P2."
Justin Hill rounded out the po-
dium in the SX1. The Rick Ware
rider kicked off the night with a
win in race one and battled back
to podium territory during the
second gate drop. An unfortu-
nate fall dropped him to fifth in
the second moto, tying him with
Wilson on points. Wilson earned
the spot due to his better posi-
tion in race two, which left Hill
on the outside looking in.
