AUGUST 16, 2006 • C Y C L E N E W S 102 Be Like Ben Now you, too, can be like Ben Bostrom or his British-import teammate, Neil Hodgson. Ducati North America is celebrating competition in the AMA Superbike series with the announcement of a limited-edition 2007 Ducati 999S Team USA Superbike. The early release 2007 model Superbike was unveiled to the public on Ducati Island during the Red Bull United States MotoGP weekend, which was held at Laguna Seca Race- way. The Superbike will be limited in produc- tion to 150 units, and each one will featured the autographs of Hodgson and Bostrom on the tail section. The machine is based on the current 999S platform, and utilizes top-level components such as Öhlins suspension, the same dual-sided braced swingarm used by the factory team, and is powered by a 143 horsepower 999cc Testas- tretta engine. The 999S Team USA edition features the same paint and graphics as the Parts Unlimited Ducati machines, and has a MSRP of $19,995. The limited-edition machine will be available for sale at Ducati dealers throughout North Ameri- ca beginning in August 2006. Every Team USA edition 999S will be built exclusively for the North American market. Strangely enough, this comes on the heels of controversy surrounding whether or not the team will even exist next year. Currently, Hodg- son has expressed the desire to go back to World Superbike, and neither he nor Bostrom have signed a contract with them for next sea- son. Who knows, maybe if you buy one, Bostrom will be calling you for a ride next year? For more information on the Team USA 999S, including detailed specifications, go to www.ducatiusa.com.
