overnight rain, launching the
machine sideways and flicking
its rider off at high speed. The
riderless Ducati continued on at
pace, crossing the track in front
of the oncoming riders before
slamming into the tire barrier
and bringing out the red flag.
Following the restart, Kelly
again led the early laps from
Fong and Scholtz, while Es
-
calante and Jacobsen charged
forward.
Jacobsen emerged as
one of the fastest riders on track,
climbing to third while setting the
race's fastest lap of 1:25.009. His
charge ended in heartbreak, how
-
ever, when he crashed, triggering
the second red
flag.
Because nine laps had been
completed and that counted for
one-third distance, the race was
declared official, with results

crash at the start of race
two ruled him out for the
rest of the weekend.
