BY JOHN SPURRIER LAWRENCEBURG, IN, JUNE 23 W ith five races completed at the Lawrenceburg Short Track, Andrew Butler, Brandon Wilhelm and David Wolf all have something in common: Each has won four out of the five feature races in their respective class. Wilhelm has dominat- ed the 60cc races, Butler the 80cc races, and Wolf the Open A races. In addition, in the races they didn't win, Wilhelm and But- ler each took a second-place finish, while Wolf placed third in the race he didn't win. On this day, Wilhelm shot into the lead in the 60cc feature and never looked back. Skyler Beal managed to stay on the same lap with Wilhelm but finished a straightaway's length back. Chris Aura and Symantha Wilhelm finished third and fourth. In the 80cc feature, Butler jumped into the early lead, followed by Robby Hill, Wilhelm, and Joey Westheider, and that's the way they finished. In the 50cc feature, Grant Stapleton got his second win in a row, over Gabriel Lane, Brayden Byan and the rest of the field. Coy Matthews grabbed the lead in the 100cc feature, only to be greeted by the red flag, as Robby Hill crashed coming off the line. Hill was able to continue, and Brandon Brown got the early lead, only to bobble in turn three and give the lead to Matthews. Butler settled into third, followed by Ben Baker and the rest of the pack. Baker tried an outside pass on Butler, but it didn't work. At the finish, it was Matthews, Brown, Butler, Baker and the rest of the field. Matthews ventured into the Pro class and proceeded to get the holeshot and go wire to wire for his win. Tyler Shepard came off the line in third, passed Joey Ratz to take over second and briefly challenged Matthews for the lead, but he had to settle for second place. Ratz finished third, ahead of Joel Brown. In the Open A feature, Wolf shot into the lead and never looked back. Behind him, Jamey Deiner briefly held second, until he was passed by Phil Wolf, David's father. The senior Wolf tried to catch his son, but David was just too fast. At the finish, it was David and Phil Wolf, followed by Deiner, Barry Benkert Jr., Baker, and the rest of the field. Phil Wolf wheelied into the lead from his pole position in the Over 30 feature and went wire to wire for the win. Billy Step came home in second, followed by Albert Lowe and the rest of the pack. In the Over 50 race, Butch Lowe grabbed the early lead, with Richard Hilbert in second place. Hilbert slid off the groove, giving the spot to Ron Louderback. Hilbert finished third, ahead of Bill Cook, Jim Beck and Rocky Shamblin. The combo race for Pros and Amateurs saw Joey Ratz get the holeshot and go wire to wire for his win, ahead of Shepard, David Wolf, and the rest of the pack. RESULTS 50: 1. Grant Stapleton; 2.
