French Grand Prix ahead of Randy Mamola and Christian Sarron...

Winner John Kocinski (11) leading Troy Corser at the
Laguna Seca WorldSBK was on the cover 30 years
ago. Anthony Gobert also got a piece of the cover
for winning race two... Greg Albertyn won the 250cc
AMA Motocross National at Unadilla... We interviewed
speedway racer Chris Manchester and motocrosser
Sebastien Tortelli... Charley Bogard was one of the
big winners at the Good Times Amateur National MX.

was our caption for our cover photo of Jimmy
Weinert and Tony DiStefano 50 years ago. But
the serious business at hand was the Superbowl
of Motocross at the Los Angeles Memorial
Coliseum. A claimed 73,130 fans saw Can-Am
rider Jimmy Ellis take the overall win with 1-1-2
results... Martin Lampkin won the Wagner
Cup World Championship trials that was
held in Washington.
