Herlings, Farres Top MXGP Of Great Britain

FIM Motocross World
Championship marked the highly
anticipated return of England's
legendary Foxhills Moto Parc to
the Grand Prix calendar for the
first time in 26 years. Thousands
of fans packed the iconic hillside
venue as the revamped hard-
packed circuit produced some of
the closest racing of the season.
The biggest stories of the week

end came in both championship
battles, where injuries dramati-
cally altered the title picture.
Jeffrey Herlings moved within
striking distance of the MXGP
points lead, while Guillem Farres
captured the MX2 red plate with
another dominant performance.

Herlings delivered a flawless
weekend for Honda HRC Petro-
nas, sweeping both motos to
claim his sixth Grand Prix victory
of the season. The Dutchman
grabbed the holeshot in both
races, controlled the pace from
the front, and withstood relent-
less pressure from Tim Gajser
and Romain Febvre throughout
the afternoon. The perfect 1-1
performance marked the 118th
Grand Prix victory of Herlings'
career and his fifth overall win in
Great Britain. More importantly,
with Lucas Coenen unable to
score points after aggravating a
leg injury, Herlings cut the cham
-
pionship deficit to just 11 points
heading into the next round.
"Another perfect weekend, two
holeshots, and I led every single
lap," Herlings said. "But I don't
like gaining 50 points this way.
My thoughts go out to Lucas;
even though we're rivals, you
never want to gain points like
this. It's a shame, and I'd rather
he'd just broken his bike than
hurt himself. I hope he's back
healthy as soon as possible,
and I'm looking forward to more
