Needles Launches Off-Road Program T he City of Needles in Southern California recently held the official launch of the Needles Off- Highway Motor Vehicle (OHMV) Pilot Program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The pilot program repre - sents a significant milestone for the community and establishes Needles as the only city in California with a desig - nated OHMV route network connecting riders directly from the community to surrounding Bureau of Land Manage - ment (BLM) trail systems. The program is designed to enhance recreational opportunities, support local businesses, attract tourism and strengthen the local economy. The city will continue to provide ongoing educa- tion, updates and safety information to support responsible use and compli- ance with program requirements. Visit the official Off-Highway Motor Vehicle (OHMV) Master Plan & Routes website for the most current informa - tion on this program. CN VOLUME 63 ISSUE 29 JULY 21, 2026 P33 Haarup To Race Washougal M ikkel Haarup, of the 5.11 Triumph Racing Fac- tory Team, says he'll be ready to compete at this weekend's Washougal Pro Motocross after suffering a broken nose at the Spring Creek round on July 18. The Dane, who has been turning heads in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, fell in the first moto and was assisted off the track. He made it to the start line for the second moto but didn't make it to the finish line, having suffered a mechanical DNF. Despite the injury, Haarup says he'll be good to go at Washougal. "This was not the weekend that we wanted," he said after the Spring Creek race. "I had a decent lap time in qualification and lined up for 11th in moto one. I started in the top seven but got cross-rutted and went down. I was hit pretty hard and ended up with a broken nose. I'm healthy and ready for Washougal, though." CN The City of Needles OHMV combined-use route network is now open and operational. Mikkel Haarup suffered a broken nose at the Spring Creek Pro Motocross but says he'll be good to go for the next round at Washougal.
