Despite his late-race crash in
moto two, Jett Lawrence still
salvaged third overall. With two
crashes in the morning qualifying
sessions, he didn't seem to have
the usual intensity at the start of
race one. He settled into a lonely
second as Hunter marched away.
Jett brought the heat in race two,
however, as he turned the tables
and ran away from Hunter this
time around. Unfortunately for
him, he crashed with seven laps
to go and found himself stuck un
-
der the bike. This costly mistake
dropped him to fifth in the race
as he watched the overall win
ond place in the second moto,
gaining a spot during Jett's late-
race crash. Thanks to his effort
from race one, he netted his best
overall result of the season.
"I felt like it was one of my best
rides on my 450 so far," Deegan
said. "Just charging for the whole
35. I was laying down super good
lap times there at the end of it
and felt super strong. Unfortu

nately, I'd say I sent it so hard in
that first moto
to get up to fourth
from last that I kind of blew my

self out. Second moto was more
of
a dead pace; I just didn't have
that spark that I needed."
"It was a little bit of a drag race
going into that first turn," Deegan
said. "Then little bro [Jett] de

cided he didn't want to turn right.
But
it's cool because he let his
brother by when he did that, so
that wasn't the smartest."
Deegan put in the ride of the
day as he clawed his way from
last to an eventual fourth at the
line. He easily passed former
champions and rode like a
veteran himself as he passed
his way into the top five with just
two laps left. Deegan spent most
of his energy during the first
moto as he rode to a quiet sec

and all alone in
moto two until
a costly crash
left him with a
handlebar stuck
inside his boot.
