We featured the new Honda CBR1100XX on the cover
30 years ago... Luca Cadalora won the German Grand
Prix... We had coverage of the AMA 125/250 MX
National at RedBud. Je Emig outdueled Jeremy
McGrath to win the 250cc class, while Steve Lamson
topped the 125cc class... Ryan Hughes was the star
at the Mammoth Mountain Motocross... Will Davis
won the Lake Odessa Half Mile.

The big news 50 years ago was the U.S. Grand
Prix 125cc Motocross at Mid-Ohio Moto Park in
Lexington, Ohio. Marty Smith won both motos,
and Yoshifumi Sugio was the top-placing non-
American in fourth overall... Kenny Roberts held
o" Gary Scott to win the San Jose Mile... We
showed our readers close-up views of some of
the factory 500cc motocross bikes... We
tested the Kawasaki KZ750.
