went wrong for defending Grand National
Champion Chris Carr. After leading the race
for 18 laps, his Harley suffered a mechanical
failure and Mike Hacker was there to pick up
the pieces - becoming the fourth-different
winner in the four races that have actually
been run.
"I'm so stunned right now, I don't know
how to explain what happened tonight -
except I did put a new Davey Camlin sticker
on my helmet," said Hacker. "Maybe the old
boy jumped on and gave this to me, I don't
know. He seemed to always bail me out."
The SuperTrapp/Doc's Harley-
Davidson/Tom Norton-backed Hacker had
only moments earlier roared past Carr as his
Quality Checked Certified Pre-Owned Ford
backed Harley-Davidson came up lame, its
front carburetor falling off.
Still on the road to recovery from four
years of injuries, the ever-popular Hacker
was numb.
Mike Hacker (67) leads Chris Carr (1) at West Virginia Motor Speedway.
Carr led most of the race but had a carburetor fall off on the last lap,
handing victory to Hacker.
Rich King is now just seven points
behind Carr in the title chase after
finishing second when Carr's race
went south.
