M akita Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael added yet another Red Bud win to his collection after posting two dominant moto wins on a hot and humid, but overcast, day at Michi- gan's Red Bud Track 'N' Trail circuit. The win marked Carmichael's eighth overall win at Red Bud and his fourth of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship Series. With his nemesis, James Stewart, returning to competition after missing the Budds Creek round, Carmichael was as determined as ever to take the win and keep padding his already comfortable points lead going into the halfway point of the series in two weeks at the notoriously rough Unadilla round. "This was the best that I felt all year," Carmichael said. "Red Bud has always been good to me and it feels like home here. I just carry a lot of confidence here, and we had a great bike today, and it was a hell of a weekend." Carmichael took both Racer X Holeshot Awards and the $500 that come with each one. He ran away unchallenged to the first-moto win, finishing some 18 seconds ahead of Stewart. The second moto, he had to work a little harder. After leading for nearly two laps, Carmichael lost his front wheel in a small rut and Stewart took over the lead, albeit briefly. "I just blew out a small berm that I found on the parade lap and just lost the front wheel there," Carmichael said.
