C Y C L E N E W S • JULY 12, 2006 11 Irishman Jeremy McWilliams is coming back for more, the former MotoGP racer set to enter the Laguna Seca round of the AMA Formula Xtreme Series, which will run in conjunction with the Red Bull U.S. GP, July 21-24 in Monterey, California. Warr's of London Harley-Davidson/Buell (Great Britain), with the sup- port of Buell Motorcycle Company, will enter McWilliams aboard an XBRR. McWilliams raced an XBRR at the Daytona and Infineon AMA rounds earlier this season. Classic H-D/Buell-Millville H-D/Buell-Innovative Motorcycle Research rider Mike Hale will also contest the Formula Xtreme round at Laguna Seca on an XBRR. Hale has recovered from injuries sustained in a testing accident in May and will be racing the XBRR for the first time at an AMA Formula Xtreme event. H-D/Buell of Vallejo has also entered the AMA Formula Xtreme class at Laguna Seca with AFM veteran Shawn Reilly aboard an XB12R. "We think it's great that the AMA added the Formula Xtreme race to the Laguna weekend schedule. Erik Roloff took the Formula USA road-race win at Willow Springs when Doug Polen ran into Doug Toland and took the two of them out of the lead... 500cc GP road-race World Championship points leader Eddie Lawson crashed out of the Dutch TT and Wayne Gardner took advantage of the mistake to take the win... Johnny O'Mara swept the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc MX classes at Mammoth Mountain. 10 Years Ago July 10, 1996... Colin Edwards graced the cover of Cycle News 10 years ago... Edwards was part of a feature that had interviews with him- self and as well as fellow World Superbike riders Troy Corser and Mike Hale. It was all part of a special Laguna Seca World Superbike pre- view... Mick Doohan won the Dutch 500cc road-race GP over Alex Criville and Alex Barros, extending his championship points lead... Scott Parker won the Lima Half Mile flat-track National... Ducati rider Corser took both of the World Superbike races from the Czech Republic, beating Carl Fogarty in race one and Aaron Slight in race two... Stefan Everts took the British round of the World Motocross Series. Sebastien Tortelli topped the 125cc ranks... Team Suzuki Endurance won the fifth round of the WERA National Endurance Series from Grattan Raceway.
