KTM has announced an "entirely new generation of off-road
machines" for this season's motocross lineup. So far they've only
released info on one, the all-new 2007 450 SX-F, the latest addition
to their MX fleet. This new model most likely features some of the
technology we can expect to see on the 2007 KTM 250 SX-F, 250 SX
and 125 SX, coming later this summer. The new orange thumper is
powered by a 59 hp 449cc twin overhead-cam motor with titanium
valves, a DLC-coated rocker arm, four-speed transmission and,
most notably, electric start. The chassis is totally new with a re-
designed chromoly frame, titanium subframe and all-new WP sus-
pension. The 450 SX-F also comes with an aluminum handlebar,
hydraulic clutch, titanium exhaust, and weighs in at a reported 220
pounds (dry weight). Aiding in its development, MX1 rider Jonathan
Barragan debuted the KTM 450 SX-F (pictured) earlier this year in
the World Motocross Championship series.

A new camshaft and porting on the
CRF250R work toward increasing
mid- to top-end power. A new
exhaust header and revised ignition
mapping accompany the new
camshaft. No changes were made to
Honda's two-stroke models.

Ever the moving target, Honda has a
host of minor changes made to their
CRF motocrossers. The CRF250R and
CRF450R both receive new front-sus-
pension valving, a stronger, thicker
clutch basket, a new Dunlop 742FA
front tire, and improved front-braking
ability. Modest changes to the '07
CRF450R include a smaller exhaust
valve for smoother power and a revised
carburetor for improved throttle
response. A new subframe allows the
silencer to be mounted further forward
for mass-centralization.
