Spaniard finished second, 1.133
seconds back in second place,
with Montella once again third.
A great ride for Bassani saw
him fourth, although he was 4.5
seconds behind Montella.
A rare tech breakdown saw
Alex Lowes suddenly slow and
then stop out on track, losing his
chance of a top five placing.
The second long race, held in
even hotter conditions than the
first on Saturday, would end up
showing us all a mirror image of
the other podiums—Bulega, Lec

uona and Montella—but this time

Bassani fell on lap 18 after being
third for most of the race.

Oliveira and BMW's in race one in
Hungary.
Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki
Racing Team) had a tough race
meeting on the same weekend
he announced an extension of
his contract with the Puccetti-run
Kawasaki team. The Texan fell on
his Superpole outlap and started
from way back in each race. His
race results read 14-14-12.
"That was a difficult weekend,"
said Gerloff on Sunday. "I really
wish I could say that it wasn't,
but after crashing in the first lap
of Superpole qualifying and not
having a time set, then starting
from the back row of the grid, it
made my life way more difficult
than it should have been. I am
really sorry to the team because
this is their home round and
they had all their sponsors here.
There was a really cool atmo
-
sphere, and I hope everybody
really enjoyed it, but I feel bad
that we had one of our worst on-
track weekends on the weekend
that they all came along. I hope
