where he'd stack up in the
450MX division. The Red Bull
KTM rider answered that call
with a hard-fought second-place
finish in race one after starting
outside the top five. Crashes for
both Deegan and Hunter helped
Lucas Coenen at the end of the
moto, but he still ran the fastest
times on track in all five of the
final laps, closing the gap to Jett
to just 1.4 seconds at the line.
Race two saw a much better
start from the Belgian as he ran
second for the entire second
moto. He looked to be in conten

tion for the overall win but just
couldn't
get close enough to the
number one, Jett. A 2-2 beat all

put him second on the day. Lu

"This was amazing," Lucas
said. "My start wasn't that good,
but I managed to go quick in the
first corner and then just enjoy
[myself] out there. I can't thank
the team enough for making this
happen, and with the Roger De

Coster kit, it's amazing. I loved
every
lap out there. The second
moto was hectic with lapped
riders, but you know, I am racing
the best riders in the world, and
it's a lot of fun."
Hunter made it three podiums
in three rounds with third overall.
The round-one winner held the
pace in the opening moto, but a
late-race crash had him fighting
for a spot on the box in the final
laps. Hunter was also docked
one position for cutting the track,
which set him back from third to
fourth. Hunter fell again in moto

venue and marks his 26th win in
30 450MX starts. He'll carry the
red plate at round four as he now
leads the points by eight over
Hunter Lawrence.
"I felt a lot better in moto two
with a lot better lines and better
flow," Jett said. "It was a tricky
track. It was a good 1-1 week
-
end, and I'm happy with that. I'm
getting more used to
riding with
my foot, but it wasn't easy on
a track like this. But it was still
good enough for a 1-1."
The Belgian, Lucas Coenen,
wearing special Roger DeCoster
livery, finished second overall
in his Pro Motocross debut.

class), and everyone wondered

HONORING DeCOSTER
The Belgian twins, Lucas and
Sacha Coenen, wore special
Roger DeCoster livery to honor
their fellow countryman and five-
time 500cc MX World Champion.
Their gear sponsor, Fly Racing,
developed commemorative gear
resembling the gear DeCoster
wore in the mid-1970s while
competing in the U.S. Trans-AMA
Series, which he won four times.
In two of those years, DeCoster,
as a factory Suzuki rider, famously
wore the number 104, the same
number Lucas wore in Colorado.

Thunder Valley Notes: Another
win for Jett Lawrence (currently
26) and he'll be tied with Bob
Hannah for fourth on the all-time
list. In 30 starts, Lawrence has 26
wins, 28 podiums and top-fives,
and 29 top 10s. Hunter Lawrence
earned his 20th 450 class podium
in 25 starts. Lucas Coenen is the
first Belgian to land on the podium
since Clement Desalle who went
2-2 for second overall at the Un-
adilla National in 2010.
