petitors, but Levi Kitchen came
away unscathed
with the overall
win. No victory in either moto
was still enough to get it done,
as Kitchen's 2-2 proved strong
enough against an up-and-down
field. With starts still his Achil
-
les' heel, Kitchen charged in both
motos
and made it clear he was
the fastest rider on track in the
second half of each race. This
is the fourth overall win of his
career and puts him seven points
behind teammate Seth Ham
-
maker for the championship lead.
Julien Beaumer
proved he's
for real by scoring his first-ever
overall podium. The Red Bull
KTM rider showed promise in
moto one, running second for
most of the race before finishing
fourth. He turned things around
in moto two, charging through
the pack after rounding lap one,
when he was back in 10th. A
third at the line bumped Beaum
-
er's overall result to second and
marked
his first career podium
in 23 attempts. After missing all
of Supercross this year due to a
back injury, this is a huge step
for Beaumer, who now sits third
in the championship.
"I definitely didn't think it [po
-
dium] would come so quickly,"
Beaumer
said. "Man, I feel like
I am dreaming. It was a long
nine months, and I think today
shows the work we put in and
that the decisions we've made
while I was away were the right
ones. I've been working hard,
and I couldn't be happier to do
this for the team. They stuck by
me for the last nine months and
believed in me, so being up here
